AN IPSWICH man is today celebrating after winning a grand in a giveaway competition.
Bernard Tumilty, of Faulkeners Way, Trimley St Mary, could not believe it when he was the third lucky reader to scoop a cash prize in the 'Grab a Grand' competition - brought to you by The Evening Star and Ipswich based company Call Connection.
The 54-year-old said: “It was a big shock. I saw the competition and had a couple of gos. You never expect to win these things so I could not believe it when I found out I won.
“I have just put my car in for a service and have a feeling it is going to be expensive. Hopefully it will be ok because I am doing up my flat and want to buy new furniture with this money.”
The competition involves the Star giving readers a chance to pocket a weekly �1,000 prize.
