A newly-launched vintage store in Ipswich is staging a one-hour fashion show from its shop window this weekend to raise money for charity.

Best Days Vintage, which opened its doors at Sailmakers Shopping Centre last month, will put on the event tomorrow between 1-2pm and will be collecting donations for the Robin Cancer Trust.

Steve Hurdle, who owns the store with his best friend, Jez Dixon, said the theme of the show would be festival-wear.

The Robin Cancer Trust aims to raise awareness of germ cell cancers, which includes both testicular and ovarian cancers, in 16-35-year-olds.

The Colchester-based charity is named after Robin Freeman, from Wivenhoe, who died aged 24, in 2011, from leukaemia brought on by a rare form of testicular cancer.

Mike Sorhaindo, manager of Sailmakers Shopping Centre, said: “This is a really imaginative idea to have a fashion show in a shop window and should be a real attention-grabber.”

Guitarist Steve and singer Jez are former band mates who opened their first shop in Eld Lane, Colchester, over three years ago.

The pair originally met at university in High Wycombe, formed a band, New Adventures, and spent eight years touring the UK before cutting their teeth in the vintage clothing market.
