The 41-year-old, who asked not to be named, picked up a cheque for a total of £48, 813 after winning a major game in an Ipswich Bingo hall. She scooped the cash on Monday > in a game at the Gala Club in Orwell Retail Park.

She completed her full house in just 42 minutes, netting a £47,500 share of a the national link-up game, a regional prize of £1,170 and the club prize of £143.

It's certainly a case of practice making perfect for the woman who has been playing the game on a weekly basis for more than 30 years.

She said she had been a regular visitor to the bingo hall since she was 18. The jackpot winner added that she now intends to have a great Christmas with her large family and also treat herself to a new car.

The woman is just the latest in a long line of lucky winners from the Suffolk area.

Already this year two people have scooped nearly a quarter of a million each from games in Ipswich halls.

A 20-year-old, who had only ever played the game on five previous occasions, struck it lucky when she picked up a cheque for more than £200,000 in July.

The woman, who did not want her name to be printed, shared the money with friends after winning it in a national link-up game at Mecca in Lloyds Avenue.

A month later and a 55-year-old Ipswich grandfather was celebrating after winning a similar sum at Gala. The 55-year-old, from the Belstead Hills area scooped £200,000 in August.

In July a 54-year-old mother was celebrating her recipe for success with a £53,000 windfall after a game at Mecca.

The first big winner of the year was 51-year-old John Johnson, from Needham Market, who took home £48,000 after completing a full house, again at Gala.
