motorcyclists are being warned to stop riding illegally in forests and spoiling the peace of the countryside.

Police say they will prosecute youths caught in unauthorised forest areas around Woodbridge after receiving complaints from members of the public.

But they have emphasised that they want to work with the Forestry Commission and the youngsters to find a suitable piece of land for their pastime.

Concerns have been raised for the safety of both the motorcyclists and walkers as well as the risk to the environment.

Discussions have taken place between Pc Andy Warne, the Hollesley area community police officer, and the Forestry Commission with the aim of making the forests a safer place for everyone.

Pc Warne said: "We'd like to hear from motorcyclists who would like to get involved in helping establish the site, as we hope this will prevent nuisance for those who want to enjoy the natural surroundings, but still give youngsters the chance to enjoy themselves too.

''Anyone who is interested should get in touch with the Forestry Commission recreation ranger on 01394 450164 or myself on 01473 613500.''
