FOUR people were taken to hospital after a two-car collision that caused a rush hour gridlock in Ipswich this evening.

Police, firefighters and ambulances were called to the accident involving a blue Ford Sierra and brown Cherokee jeep on Norwich Road at just after 5.30pm today.

Two men from the Sierrra were taken to Ipswich Hospital with injuries described as "serious". The female driver of the jeep and her brother were taken in as a precautionary measure.

It took police an hour and 20 minutes to open the road to traffic which had been diverted along Highfield Approach.
