Blackout hits Ipswich town centre

A POWER cut left businesses in and around Tavern Street without electricity for more than four hours today.

A POWER cut left businesses in and around Tavern Street without electricity for more than four hours today.

EDF Energy said the blackout was caused by a fault in an underground cable and it was working to restore power as soon as possible.

Electricity was cut to 17 customers in the Tavern Street area at 9.30am and efforts were still being made to fix the problem at lunchtime.
