MEMBERS of Woodbridge Flower Club enjoyed a luncheon at Ufford Park Hotel to celebrate the club's 50th anniversary.This was a very special occasion for the club with the national chairman, Mrs Gillian Platt, the area president, Doris Waymark, the area chairman, Elsie Leeding, and group chairman Maureen Noone celebrating with members to mark Woodbridge being the third oldest NAFAS club in Great Britain.
MEMBERS of Woodbridge Flower Club enjoyed a luncheon at Ufford Park Hotel to celebrate the club's 50th anniversary.
This was a very special occasion for the club with the national chairman, Mrs Gillian Platt, the area president, Doris Waymark, the area chairman, Elsie Leeding, and group chairman Maureen Noone celebrating with members to mark Woodbridge being the third oldest NAFAS club in Great Britain.
Among those present was Mary Webb, a founder member, and she remembers attending the very first meeting in Woodbridge, chaired by Mary Pope, who, with Constance Spry, started the Flower Club movement in this country.
Jean Harpum, current chairman, welcomed the guests and members and invited them to enjoy the photographs, minute books and other memorabilia collected over the 50 years.
The regular flower club meetings are held in St John's Hall, Woodbridge, on the first Tuesday of each month.
Maureen Noone will be the demonstrator on March 5 and the club welcomes visitors and prospective members.
