Blowtorch thief steals cash

A THIEF armed with a blowtorch stole cash from village phone boxes across Suffolk.

The culprit used a blow torch or similar oxyacetalene tool to remove the coin boxes and contents from six public telephone kiosks in Needham Market, Lavenham, Cockfield, Barking, Somersham, Bramford between 1am and 2am today.

The culprit used a blow torch or similar oxyacetalene tool to remove the coin boxes and contents from six public telephone kiosks in Needham Market, Lavenham, Cockfield, Barking, Somersham, Bramford between 1am and 2am today.

Inspector Mike Hinshelwood said: "There may be others to be discovered yet."

He appealed for anyone with any information about the crimes, or who saw a blue Cavalier which was spotted leaving the scene of one of the kiosks, to telephone Suffolk Police on 01473 613500.
