VISITORS to a Christmas charity fayre in Felixstowe tomorrow may find themselves stepping back in time.

The Blue Cross has uncovered film footage from yesteryear taken at its former centre in the town and is hoping that visitors to the fundraising event may be able to shed some light on it.

Centre manager Tom Crowley said the 15-minute film would be shown throughout the afternoon, which runs from 12 midday to 4pm at the Walton Community Hall, Walton High Street.

"It was taken some time between 1955 and 1965 and features the day to day work at the centre at that time, but also some footage from what appears to be an open day," said Mr Crowley.

"We are hoping that people who come along to the fayre will watch the cine film and may be able to tell us more about it, when it was taken, and so on.

"People may well spot themselves as youngsters on the film and remember coming along to the open day."

The Blue Cross used to be based in the King Street area, where it had extensive premises including brick-built kennels and a cattery.

It moved to its current home in Walton High Road around 1972 when its old site was earmarked for the housing development around The Walk.

n Pet owners can buy their cats and dogs a present or a Christmas card at the Blue Cross at Felixstowe. The centre in Walton High Road has entered a charity shop for the festive season with all profits going to the charity's work.
