CONMEN lied their way in to a 90-year-old man's home and stole £550 today.

Two men who said they were from the water board managed to get in to the elderly man's home in Horsefair Close, Mendlesham at around 4.40pm.

They stole the money from an upstairs bedroom.

Both men are described as being white and in their 20s.

Police spokesman Steve Henry said: " people should always ask for and check identification. If you are in doubt about a caller then make them wait and call the police. Any genuine callers will not mind waiting.

"Also if you live in the vicinity of elderly people then please keeps you eyes open for any unusual callers."
