A man has been taken to hospital after colliding with a bollard and traffic sign in Ipswich.

Police were called to Yarmouth Road at 3.17pm to reports of a single vehicle crash involving a Vauxhall Astra.

Both the traffic sign and the bollard have been knocked over, a police spokeswoman said.

Paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service treated a man aged in his 40s at the scene for neck and back pain.

The patient was taken to Ipswich Hospital for further care but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A police investigation into the collision is underway and any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 244.
