NETWORK Rail is to spend £50 million upgrading the overhead wires between London and Chelmsford which caused serious problems for travellers at the end of last summer.
The work is part of a national £2.4 billion expansion of the railways to carried out over the next two years the rail company announced today.
The work should ensure passengers heading to London for the 2012 Olympics have more reliable journeys.
