Bouncy Jack Russell cross Jack from Ipswich picks up award for his dog agility skills

Abbi Lawrence's two year-old Jack Russell cross named Jack was highly commended in a Wunderdog competition with National Accident Helpline.

The bouncy little Jack Russell cross has just picked up a highly commended award from a national dog show for well-trained pets.

And it is not the first time he has been noticed for his temperament and looks.

Owner Abbi Lawrence from Ipswich entered Jack into the Wunderdogs competition run by the National Accident Helpline and veterinary charity PDSA.

And although he just missed out on top prize he was given the highly commended award for his performance in Miss Lawrence’s video submission.

The delighted owner said she was very pleased her pup had performed so well, with the judges saying: “No obstacle was too much for Jack. We loved his video and his fearlessness.”

Miss Lawrence said: “He’s quite lively and bouncy. We go to fun dog shows at weekends and he does quite well in them.”

The competition was for well trained dogs to highlight responsible dog ownership.

“He’s my first dog so I wanted to go to obedience classes with him,” Miss Lawrence, aged 36, said. “He watches my body language about where to go. He gets really excited and wants to steam ahead.”

Miss Lawrence said she was incredibly pleased Jack had taken to agility courses, having only been training for a year.

“He’s picked it up really quickly and he loves doing it,” Miss Lawrence said.

Jack’s success in Wunderdogs may now mean he is entered into more shows to show off his skills.

And it is not his first taste of fame; he is also the face of the East Anglian Air Ambulance’s sponsored dog walk, having won a competition to feature on its publicity.

“He’s a very photogenic dog,” Miss Lawrence added.
