BOWL me over!

A tenpin bowler has left her fellow team-mates stunned today after scoring an amazing 12 strikes in a row.

Leta Humphreys did not miss a single pin as she played a perfect game for her team - scoring an almost unheard of maximum 300 points.

And the remarkable score came as even more of a surprise as she had only just returned from a six-week absence after chipping a bone in her wrist.

Mrs Humphreys, of Creeting Hall Farm, The Creetings, said: "Everything went right on the night.

"I've never done it before and don't expect to again - it's not something you come across very often.

"Not many bowlers ever achieve it."

The extraordinary feat was witnessed by a crowd at Solar Bowl, Ipswich, where Mrs Humphreys was playing for her team, The Formidables.

A game usually finishes after ten frames but, after not missing a pin, the 50-year-old earned herself an extra two goes.

It has not all been good news for Mrs Humphreys though. She was previously forced to pull out of the British Tenpin Bowling National Championships because of her injury.

She said: "I was so disappointed I had to pull out of the national championships as it's my favourite tournament but I had to rest my arm after a fall.

"At first I didn't know how it would hold up.

"The scores I was getting just kept getting better and better each week and in my fifth week back I played a perfect game.

"I love the sport. I've been playing for 17 years since I met my husband Paul. I also play for a team with him called the Jungle Cats."
