AN ESSEX schoolboy collapsed and died at school today, police have confirmed.

The 12-year-old student fell ill at William de Ferrers School in Chelmsford this morning.
Paramedics attended the school and the pupil was taken to hospital by the ambulance service where he was pronounced dead.
In a letter to parents, head teacher at the school, Russell Ayling offered the school's condolences to the boy's family.
He said: “It is with great sadness that I am writing to you about the death of one of our students earlier today.
“I felt it important that you knew as soon as possible of this tragedy.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time.”
An Essex police spokesman said the death is not being treated as suspicious.
