IPSWICH'S youngest celebrity, Terri Calvesbert, is to open one of Great Yarmouth's best-known attractions.
Terri, who was just short of her second birthday when fire raged through her Ipswich home leaving her with 85 per cent burns, will open the Winter Gardens with the mayor and mayoress elect, councillor John Hudson, on the refurbished Wellington Pier.
Sue McElroy, marketing and advertising manager for Family Amusements, had been looking for a youngster to do the honours, when she heard Terri was to be on holiday at a guest house, courtesy of owner Eddie and Jill Maguire.
Eddie had contacted the Evening Star to offer her a holiday after seeing her on tv.
He then contacted Sue when trying to arrange some entertainment for Terri – and asked for tickets for Pettitts Animal Adventure Park at Reedham, so Terri could be filmed having fun for a second Anglia TV documentary.
Sue said: "We have a great new children's area called the Jungle inside the Winter Gardens, also a bistro, beer garden and bars for families to enjoy. We are honoured to have Terri open the venue for us."
