BRITAIN'S version of the FBI has closed its base in Suffolk, it has emerged.

Around 20 officers belonging to the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) have been moved out of a location in Newmarket and into Essex.

The move from the former Regional Crime Squad premises took place earlier this month. It is believed the vast majority of the staff have been relocated to Harlow.

The agency has remained tight-lipped about the reason for the move and declined to confirm it had actually taken place.
