FIREFIGHTERS had to rescue a bullock from a well after it stumbled in and became trapped.
A farmer used a digger to open up the sides of the three-foot wide shaft where the animal had become wedged with only enough room to curl into a ball.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said the bullock fell 12 feet down the disused well, at Forton Hall Farm, near Montford Bridge, Shropshire, and was sedated by a vet before being lifted to safety with special straps by firefighters.
The animal was at first thought to be seriously injured but a check-up by a vet at the scene confirmed it was already making a good recovery.
Only slightly lame from the fall, the bullock was soon able to move around and eat and drink as normal.
