SIX Suffolk bus services are expected to change hands with effect from October 28.

The news follows a review of First Eastern Counties operations in the Ipswich, Framlingham, Saxmundham and Sudbury areas.

The company's review has identified that services 64, 71/72, 90/91, 126, 551 and 552 are no longer viable on a purely commercial basis.

But other operators have already registered some replacement services and the remainder have been put out to tender by Suffolk County Council.

A decision on the award of contracts for replacement services is expected later this week.

Mike Payne, First Eastern Counties Marketing Director said; "It is likely that most of these services will continue to operate and the communities affected will not lose their buses. We have provided Suffolk County Council with revenue and patronage information for the services involved to aid them with the tendering process."

The withdrawal of these services will release 12 drivers for use on other First Eastern Counties routes in the Ipswich area.

Full details of services affected from October 28, 2001:
