Enterprise advisers from the Suffolk branch of multinational recruitment agency Adecco have won a national award for their work connecting the county’s schools and colleges with the world of work.

Adecco’s team of enterprise advisers, part of the New Anglia Enterprise Adviser Network, won the Large Employer category at the Careers and Enterprise Company’s “Joining the Dots” awards ceremony.

Adecco was nominated by the New Anglia Enterprise Adviser Network for committing several members of local staff to the enterprise adviser programme and working with students from the foundation learning department of Ipswich college Suffolk One.

The New Anglia Enterprise Adviser Network is supported by New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and Norfolk and Suffolk county councils, as part of the wider national work of the Careers and Enterprise Company.

The network aims to connect senior leaders in local businesses and schools, in order to help motivate and inspire young people as well as improve their work prospects.

Advisers bring their wealth of knowledge and experience of the world of work to help develop a comprehensive action plan for young people between 11 and 18 years old.

Peter Page, regional manager at Adecco, said: “Our partnership with the New Anglia Enterprise Advisor Network has been going from strength to strength over the past 12 months, a partnership founded on mutual values, easy communication channels and a desire to make a difference in supporting the UK’s next workforce generation and beyond.”

Jacqui Phipps, careers and enterprise lead for Suffolk County Council, said: “Our local Adecco colleagues have been long-standing supporters of the work in schools with their ‘Way to Work’ programme and resources.

“When approached to become part of the New Anglia Enterprise Adviser Network, they saw this as a great opportunity to formalise this approach both locally and nationally. Their support has gone from strength to strength – they now have a national framework for all their branches, as well as four enterprise advisers starting to work in Suffolk.

“They are also backing Suffolk’s ‘SENDsational’ campaign as they proactively work to open their doors to our SEND [Special Educational Needs and Disability] students to help this group also benefit from the input that the agency and their huge network of employers can bring”.
