SUFFOLK police are today visiting businesses in Haverhill after armed robbers struck twice in the town.

The businesses are being given crime prevention advice in the wake of the robberies.

Police are also distributing leaflets and renewing their appeal for information.

On December 18 cash was stolen from Woolworths, on the High Street, and on Monday , cash was stolen from Ladbrokes bookmakers, on Jubilee Walk.

Haverhill district inspector Adrian Dawson said: “We are continually working with retailers and businesses in the town to give them reassurance and crime prevention advice, and we are happy to visit stores to help put practical measures in place.

“To suffer any armed robbery in Haverhill is extremely unusual. Suffolk remains a relatively safe county, and by working together with local people and business owners we can keep it that way.”

Anyone with information about the robberies, which are not being linked, is asked to call Haverhill CID on 01473 613500.
