Ipswich business in Charity Times awards shortlist

A fledgling Ipswich business - iStreet Giving has been shortlisted for the national Charity Times 2014 awards.

Ipswich businessmen Hugo Catchpole and Hamish Stone, who run their iStreet internet shopping and charity giving site from an office in Queen Street, have been invited to attend the 2014 awards gala and ceremony at the Lancaster London Hotel in October when the winners will be announced.

All the high flyers of the national and international charity world will be present, with nominees in various categories ranging from the Age UK to Guide Dogs for the Blind, Cancer Research UK to Christian Aid Poverty and Clic Sargent to Guide Dogs for the Blind.

These 2014 awards are the 15th year of the honours.

Founder Hugo Catchpole said: “We have been shortlisted in the Fundraising Technology category.

“The awards continue to be the pre-eminent celebration of the best practice in the UK charity and non-profit sector, recognising outstanding achievement and operational excellence.

“We wll be up against the likes of eBay for charity and the Paypal giving fund.

“We are very pleased to be shortlisted. It is great to have this recognition. We are surprised it has come so soon.

“People really do seem to know what we are doing.”

Also in the category is The Horse Trust and The Big Give Christmas Challenge.

iStreet is a shopping site, where customers can also log a favourite charity to benefit as they buy.

It links to hundreds of major shopping sites from Argos to John Lewis, snd Sports Direct to Sainsbury’s.

With every purchase, large or small a donation is automatically made to their nominated charity.

It ranges from pence to pounds, explained Hugo.

Among the charities and causes that have already signed up, and are benefitting, are Dogs for the Disabled, Macmillan Cancer Support, Whizz-Kids, WWF and Ormiston.
