It is the final day of trading for the Maplin the electronics stores in Carr Street, Ipswich on Wednesday.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is the final day of trading for the Maplin electronics store in Carr Street, Ipswich.

The store has been holding a closing down sale since the collapse of the company, and most of the shelves were bare as stock has been sold off at discount prices.

The troubled retailer collapsed into administration in February, putting 2,500 jobs at risk across the country.

The group, owned by private equity firm Rutland Partners, called in PwC after attempts to rescue the chain failed.

Attempts to find a buyer for the group also failed and the closure of stores was announced.

Maplin had 217 stores in the UK, including at Ipswich, Lowestoft and Chelmsford.

It came at the same time Toys R Us also fell into administration, affecting 3,200 staff.
