Suffolk technology company Digital Tomorrow Today has acquired the Twitter analytics tool Tweetchup.com for an undisclosed sum.

Digital Tomorrow Today, which is based at Brightwell, near Ipswich, says the acquisition is “a perfect fit” with its own BirdSong Analystics platform which it launched in 2011 and is now widely used by companies for analysis of their social media activity.

Tweetchup is a free tool offering instant commercial analysis of a Twitter user’s account, providing statistics based on the most recent 3,200 tweets together with some hashtag analysis for Twitter searches.

Jamie Riddell, chief executive of Digital Tomorrow Today, said: “We are delighted to be the new owners of Tweetchup and believe this tool will sit well alongside BirdSong Analytics, our pay as you go social media analytics platform.

“We were impressed by Tweetchup’s strong reputation in the market – they are well respected for providing useful Twitter metrics to an extensive user base.

“We already have some really progressive plans around extending the free Tweetchup service to support other networks. However, both Tweetchup and BirdSong Analytics will remain as standalone brands, complementing each other.”

Tweetchup, which had bases in Singapore and Russia, will now be fully managed by the Suffolk-based team, with no transfer of employees involved.

BirdSong Analytics, which is used in more than 120 countries around the world, provides reports on more than 30 key metrics on any public Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or YouTube account, plus data downloads for offline analysis.

It also offers additional research and bespoke analysis, which are used by clients including multinational corporations, universities and publishers.
