Stand4 Socks launched their new range of bamboo socks through a Crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo which has already hit 168% overfunded of the initial target.

Stand4Socks was founded by former Ipswich School pupil Josh Turner, who also studied at the School for Social Entrepreneurs in the Eastern Enterprise Hub in Ipswich Waterfront.

His current range of colourful, ethical socks - made from cotton - are sold and help support good causes around the world, for the 11 United Nations targets which include improving education, ending famine and providing clean water.

Crowdfunding is a way of fundraising money from a large crowd online, and in return each backer of Stand4 Socks will receive a pair from the latest bamboo range, with earlier backers receiving limited edition designs.

Josh said, the new bamboo range has benefits to both the wearer and the plant. They are naturally antibacterial, breathable, absorbent and super soft. While bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on the plant, requires little water and land for high yields and no fertiliser, also being 100% biodegradable

Started by 26-year-old Josh Turner. Stand4 Socks is redefining the meaning of a pair of socks.Over the last year, Stand4 Socks has had impacts in developing countries around the United Nations Global Goals. From just one pair of socks, vaccinating 3 kids against measles inBangladesh, or planting 10 trees to clearing landmines. Stand4 which is based inUK also want to make an impact closer to home.

Homelessness affects one in ten peoplein the UK with an increase of 6% in the last year alone affecting 185,000 this year.

Buying just one pair of socks also gives a pair to a homeless person,

The vision is to change the meaning of transactions and charity through everyday products,

raising the question,“What if Socks could change the World?”

Through Indiegogo, Stand4 Socks are hoping to reach a goal of at least £10,000 to buy the minimum quantity of sustainable yarn needed to bring the socks to reality.”

Josh Turner saidL:“I have always loved colourful, eccentric socks, but also I am conscious of the issues some

people face in the world today, therefore my start-up was always going to build a social purpose at its core from day one.”

“I came into this knowing nothing about socks or the charity space, we are learning as we go, the rules are easier to break when you don’t know what they are!”

“Stand4 has a bold vision to prove that even the afterthought of something like socks can have a massive impact on the world - if that can surely anything can right?”

“Bamboo is an exciting material to work with, with amazing environmental and user benefits, but

understandably it’s not the easiest to source sustainability that’s why we need the help of the

crowd!”
