The East Suffolk Disability Advice Service has been chosen by Aldeburgh’s White Lion Hotel as the charity to benefit from its guest donation scheme for the next year.

The initiative allows guests staying at the seafront hotel to add a discretionary £1 charge to their bills when staying overnight.

Hotel manager Mark White said: “We hope our guests will join with us and show their generosity by donating to this very worthwhile charity. We are also planning a series of special events over the next year at the hotel to help raise funds.”

DAS manager Dan Bristow said: “We always need money to meet the cost of running our current services and towards funding additional advisors so that we can meet the overwhelming demand for our help. For example, an hour’s advice costs £18 and travel for a home visit £15 to £20 dependent on the distance, while the representation for an appeal is around £250.”

The charity offers free, confidential and impartial advice to disabled people in the Suffolk Coastal area.
