Busy Bees Day Nursery celebrates its new Good Ofsted report

A nursery in Rushmere branded Inadequate by Ofsted in January has turned its fortunes around to achieve a Good rating just months later.

Busy Bees Day Nursery in St Andrews Walk was inspected on January 30, where it was given the lowest rating in all areas.

Among the weaknesses highlighted at the time were staff deployment, effectiveness of teaching, assessments and outcome for children.

But after six months of committed improvement work, the nursery was re-inspected in July and given the second highest rating of Good in all areas.

Emma Brown, former nursery manager who has recently been promoted to regional director for Busy Bees, said: “The staff team at the nursery have worked incredibly hard since the last inspection to continue to raise the standard and quality of the care and education we are providing at the nursery.”

She added: “I am very proud of the whole team, as it’s their hard work, commitment and persistence that has led to such a great Ofsted outcome.

“This endorsement proves that all our hard work has been recognised and the quality care that we strive to provide, is being delivered.”

The report said that “good steps” had been taken to address the issues raised in January’s inspection, and added that staff were “passionate about making effective improvements”.

The report praised the staff who “identify and plan effectively for children’s individual needs” and that “changes have been made since the last inspection to ensure that each child is offered consistent care and learning from familiar adults”.

Ms Brown added: “Through bespoke training courses we’ve been able to build on the knowledge of our entire staff team.

“It’s also given us a chance to redefine key areas of the nursery, such as reading, imagination and play areas, to ensure we’re creating as many stimulating environments as possible.

“Our sole focus is to achieve better outcomes for each and every child, and we’re determined to continue raising standards at the nursery.”

The report follows the progress of another early years provider in Ipswich, Birch Farm Nursery, which went from Inadequate to Requires Improvement in July this year.
