A NEW service aimed at helping sellers and buyers of beach huts to get in touch with each other has been launched.

Owners who want to sell their beach huts can register their huts for sale with the Suffolk Coastal District Council and their details will then be passed on to people who have expressed an interest in buying one.

Councillor Colin Hart, cabinet member for economic development and tourism, said: “There are currently 838 beach huts licensed by the council at Felixstowe and although they often stay within the same family for years, they do occasionally come up for sale.

“Normally beach huts are sold through word of mouth, advertising in the paper, through estate agents and sometimes by putting a notice on the beach hut door.

“This new service we are offering makes it much easier, simply putting sellers in touch with potential purchasers.”
