RESIDENTS of Suffolk Coastal are being asked for their ideas to trim £700,000 from the area's budget.

RESIDENTS of Suffolk Coastal are being asked for their ideas to trim £700,000 from the area's budget.

Community leaders say they want to keep the council tax as low as possible - and need to make services as efficient as possible.

Council leader Ray Herring said thanks to the council saving about £8 million since 2001, the gap next year between expected income and spending was not as bad as it could have been.

The council will be consulting with town and parish councils and the business community about its spending plans, but also wants residents' views on how it could save money.

Anyone with any ideas on how the council save money should send them to Freepost RLYA-BTTE-CKTR, Budget 2009, Suffolk Coastal District Council, Melton Hill, Woodbridge IP12 1AU or email budget2009@suffolkcoastal.gov.uk.
