People are being urged to “shop local” this Christmas and provide a welcome boost to festive trading in the region’s high streets and shopping centres.
Celebrating all that’s local in our towns and villages is at the heart of our Shop Local campaign – and there’s plenty to boast about.
Throughout the year, our communities are busy producing great food and drink, making the most of coast and county, getting involved in festivals and carnivals, visiting our markets, and hosting arts and cultural events that everyone can enjoy. None of this would be possible without local shops, services and businesses, community groups and residents putting the local into their lives and making local an even better place.
So, this Christmas, let’s make sure we get the ‘Shop Local’ habit.
And in another boost to the campaign, look out for our new app designed to highlight the profiles of dozens of local shops. It is set to be launched this month and people will be able to download the app on to their smartphones and tablets via the Apple Store and Google Play.
