The Suffolk-based professional gambler turned millionaire businessman promised today to take a punt on the Tractor Boys if his boyhood heroes do not like the colour of his money.
A £5m investment would be a massive boost to cash-strapped Town ahead of their share issue. But Mr Davey is clear where his first loyalties lie.
He said: "I've always been a fan of Norwich City and always dreamed of buying them and one day being chairman. How can they turn the offer down?
"I've got a business worth £100m, which will be sold off next year.
"I'm going to buy a football club. If not Norwich, I will have to go to Ipswich."
