The 294 children at Capel St Mary Church of England Primary School, to the South of Ipswich, held a minute of silence to remember 22 former students who died in the two world wars.
Classes at the school discussed the meaning of Remembrance Sunday and then took part in a service in the school’s playground to remember the former pupils.
22 children planted crosses of remembrance in Ben’s Garden, a quiet area which has recently been overhauled and which remembers a young pupil who died.
Ben’s father. Ian Alcock, cut a ribbon to open the area.
The refurbishment was paid for by the Capel St Mary War Memorial Trust.
A memorial stone column with the names of the 22 former pupils will be installed next year.
Money is still being raised for the village’s first-ever war memorial monument which is due to be dedicated next November, the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One.
