Pedestrian in hospital after 'stepping out in front of car' in Back Hamlet, Ipswich

A man has been taken to hospital after a crash involving a car in Ipswich.

The incident took place in Back Hamlet, at the junction with Fore Hamlet where there is a pedestrian crossing at around 5.30pm this evening.

The man did not suffer serious injuries but was taken to Ipswich Hospital by paramedics as a precaution.

A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said: “It appears the man walked into the road when he shouldn’t have done.”

The force spokesman clarified: “Someone stepped out in front of a car.”

Police were called to the incident by the ambulance service at 5.32pm.

The road was not closed at any point during the incident.

A small group of people who witnessed the collision declined to discuss the incident.
