A car has collided with a telegraph pole in Ipswich, partially closing a road and leaving the driver injured.

Suffolk police received reports of a single vehicle collision in St Augustine’s Gardens in the east of the town, just after noon.

A police spokesman said the crashed car has now been recovered and the oil in the road has been coned off.

Highways teams have been called to remove the oil from the road.

The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust was called to treat the driver of the car, though it is not thought their injuries are serious.

Earlier today, Suffolk police dealt with a large number of weather-related accidents, including four crashes on the A12.
