A LANDLADY says it is lucky that nobody was hurt after a car smashed into her pub and left a large hole.

The incident happened tonight at about 5.45pm when a male driver crashed into the side of the Rampant Horse Inn on Coddenham Road, Needham Market.

Landlady Jane Baldry said: “It happened a bit further down from where people normally sit and we had not been open long so it is quite lucky that no one was hurt.

“It is one of those places where I have been saying for a while it is an accident waiting to happen because we are right on the corner and traffic is flowing from all different directions.”

A Suffolk Police spokesman said: “A Ford Fiesta went into the side of a pub, which left a hole in the wall.

“There were no injuries caused but there is structural damage to the pub.”

Structural engineers are currently making their way to the pub and the emergency services are on the scene. The driver has not suffered any serious injuries.
