OPPORTUNIST thieves are targeting car parks in Ipswich and stealing spare wheels from cars.

Police have today issued a warning to drivers of 4x4 vehicles who have a spare tyre attached to the rear of their vehicle to be extra vigilant when parking following two reported incidents.

They advise owners who use covered car parks to reverse into the space and ensure they park as close as possible to the wall, preventing the offenders access to the tyre.

On the same day between 11.15am and 1.30pm in the spiral car park in Civic Drive, a spare wheel, valued at £270, was taken from the back of a green Freelander.

Anyone with information relating to either of these incidents should call Pc Debbie Keeble at Ipswich police on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
