FELIXSTOWE'S new carnival queen will not rule for as long our sovereign – but her reign is lasting longer than usual.

For Faye Lloyd has agreed to serve for the second year running, having enjoyed the role so much in the past 12 months.

"I have really enjoyed it and when the carnival committee asked me if I would do it again, I said it would be an honour. I love meeting people and going to all the events and I am looking forward to doing it all over again," she said.

"Last year was great, and I was so busy. The carnival went really well and I am hoping to have as much fun again this time."

Faye, 18, who moved with her family to Felixstowe Ferry three years ago, was crowned by mayor Malcolm Minns at Felixstowe's BBC Music Live Golden Jubilee Festival.

She currently works in an office, but later this year will be going off to the University of Essex to study humanities.

"I haven't really decided yet what I want to go on and do after that, and I am keeping my options open," she added.

In her spare time she enjoys swimming, shopping, going to the cinema and clubbing.

Her princesses for the year are Rebecca Vinecombe, 13, a pupil at Deben High School, and Sarah Hawes, 11, a pupil at Grange Primary.
