SPORTS clubs in the east of England are set to benefit from a windfall of more than £3million, it has been revealed.The funding will create 276 enhanced and improved sports clubs and 72 coaches in the region between now and March 2010.

SPORTS clubs in the east of England are set to benefit from a windfall of more than £3million, it has been revealed.

The funding will create 276 enhanced and improved sports clubs and 72 coaches in the region between now and March 2010.

The aim is to get more people involved in sport and to increase opportunities for more than 67,000 people throughout East Anglia.

The announcement was made yesterday by Sports England, which will be investing £3.14m into community sports clubs and coaches in the east within the next three years.

Negotiations are now under way as to how the money will be distributed between the counties and on what projects it will be spent.
