Police have issued CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to after a woman was assaulted in the Cornhill.

The incident happened around 4am in the market area of the Cornhill on Sunday, March 6.

The man is believed to have left a bar in Lion Street, Ipswich, around 4am, before he became aggressive towards a woman on the Cornhill.

The victim then intervened in an attempt to prevent any issues, with the victim and her friend walking away.

As the pair continued walking the man punched the victim in the face, which required hospital treatment for injuries caused to her eye.

Anyone who recognises the man or has any information should contact police on 101, quoting reference number 37/21109/16, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
