BBC RADIO Suffolk reshuffled its pack today while it insisted there was no way was its radio went rodeo ga ga.

Officials from the BBC have issued a total denial that their equipment could have halted a performance of a Wild West comedy at the New Wolsey last Wednesday night.

A freak news bulletin invaded the Ipswich theatre's sound system as rogue signals became too much of a show-stopper for two-man play Spittoon.

The audience enjoyed an impromptu interval while engineers sorted out the problem.

"It could not have been us," said a BBC spokesman. "Our nearest transmitter is at Manningtree."

Puzzlement still greets any attempt to make out what exactly caused the radio interference that descended on the Crown Street theatre.

Some suggest that it may have been a passing aircraft or some other unidentified flying object.

Meanwhile the Ipswich-based station has reviewed its presenter rota and brought in a new face too.

Familiar face Nick Risby hands over the mike to new host for drive time, Roger Woods, who arrives after entertaining the Armed Forces on British Forces Broadcasting Service.

Rachel Sloane has stepped into Terry Baxter's shoes on the lunchtime consumer programme, whose move to press officer for Ipswich Town sparked the change around that kicked off today.

Presenter of mid-morning Leslie Dolphin has meantime been lined up to front a top secret new radio format for the weekend.

"We have taken the opportunity to reinvigorate the programmes and to make some new changes that the listeners are really going to enjoy," said a spokesman.
