AN emergency operation swung into action today when a blaze at an Ipswich factory sparked a toxic alert.Firefighters were alerted to the drama at Crane Fluid Systems on Nacton Road shortly after 12.

AN emergency operation swung into action when a blaze at an Ipswich factory sparked a toxic alert.
Firefighters were called to the drama at Crane Fluid Systems on Nacton Road shortly after 12.30pm yesterday.
Three fire engines from Ipswich attended the scene and the gates to the factory were sealed.
Crane's managing director, Peter Wilson, explained that a fire had started in a dust arrester in the galvanising department. The unit is used to stop dust entering the atmosphere.
"The fire brigade are just here as a precaution. It's a small incident,"
he said.
The company, which makes values and fittings, works a reduced shift every Friday and operations had not been disrupted as a result of the fire, he added.
An automatic sprinkler extinguished the blaze, which is believed to have been out by the time the fire brigade arrived.
