A KEY route out of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk was closed to traffic earlier tonight as a result of a major chemical spill alert.
A container containing a chemical, believed to be methanol, fell off a trailer being towed by a large four-wheel drive vehicle on the Hall Quay side of Haven Bridge.
Firefighters were alerted at about 5.35pm and the area was quickly cordoned off to traffic.
Station manager John Baker said: “The container fell on its side and concern was raised because of the nature of the chemical.”
No leak was caused and the road was eventually reopened at about 7pm.
