FIREFIGHTERS were today tackling a chemical spill at an international port in Essex.

Crews from Dovercourt, Manningtree and Colchester were called to a ferry terminal in Harwich early this morning.
The chemical - ethylenediamine - was leaking from a drum on the back of a 20ft container in the lorry park at Parkstone Quay.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus were investigating while more detailed scientific advice relating to the chemical is gathered.
Ethylenediamine is a colourless liquid with an ammonia-like odour and is used in large quantities for production of many industrial chemicals.
The incident was ongoing at 7.30am.
