STOWMARKET Young Farmers Club has presented a cheque for £1,000 to Cancer Campaign in Suffolk following a year's successful fundraising.

Most of the cash was raised at a race night, which was supported by all the Young Farmers' Clubs in Suffolk and sponsored by local businesses, including Munton Plc, Penny Lane Computers, OLAP Ltd, Stow Vet Group and Hull Building.

Gina Cooper, Suffolk representative of Cancer Campaign in Suffolk, said they were delighted that this group of young people had shown such an awareness of the disease by supporting the Cancer Campaign.

"Our first major project is to build a cancer education and information centre in Suffolk to be a focal point for cancer in the county and which we hope will raise awareness of cancer in the community for all ages and all walks of life," she said.

Cancer Campaign in Suffolk was launched in September 1998 and aims to raise £200,000 annually.
