Avid runners took park in a cross country run at Chantry Park in the February of 1981.

Children and adults of all ages take part in the event, and these pictures taken on the day show that everyone gave it their all to finish the challenge in good time.

The event was held at Chantry Park in Ipswich, the town’s largest park and which extends over 124 acres of parkland.

The park is now home to a weekly 5km parkrun event, held on its grounds every Saturday morning.

It attracts a large number of people every week, be it from competitive runners to those who would rather jog or walk with friends.
