Ipswich cartoonist Darren Bird captured the mood of a nation today drawing Children in Need figurehead Pudsey Bear shedding a tear at the passing of Sir Terry Wogan.
After tweeting his condolences on hearing of the death of the iconic broadcaster, Children in Need changed its Facebook and Twitter pages to embed Mr Bird’s tribute.
The charity’s Twitter account read: “Thanks to @DarrenBirdie for capturing the mood of the nation on this sad day.”
Mr Bird said: “I just wanted to pay homage to a brilliant broadcaster.”
National media also contacted Mr Bird with a view to using his tribute and he was due to be interviewed on BBC Radio Five Live.
