In the early hours a layer of frost descended across the county with some in-car thermometers showing the temperature outside to be as low as -6C.
Official Met Office figures showed the temperature at 6am in Ipswich to be 0C, feeling an even more chilly -1C.
Temperatures were predicted to rise to 3C by noon before falling again to -1C by 6pm.
Another cold day is in store tomorrow with temperatures in Ipswich expected to remain around the -1C mark overnight before getting up to a high of 1C by noon.
