A THATCHED pub was saved from extensive damage after fire broke out in a chimney.
Crews from Halesworth and Southwold were called to The Queen's Head, in Blyford, after an open fire in the bar area of the pub spread to the chimney.
Firefighters arrived at the pub in Southwold Road at around 3.40pm yesterday and quickly dealt with the blaze before it could spread to the thatched roof.
They used thermal imaging cameras after extinguishing the flames to check the first floor of the building for hot-spots, before declaring it safe to return to at around 4.10pm.
