The 20 boys, three girls and 10 men of the Ipswich choir sang music by Mozart, Durufle and other composers at the two main services in Tewkesbury Abbey and works by E J Moeran, Wesley, Robert Walker and others at Evensong in Wells Cathedral.

The choir was directed by the resident director of music at St Mary-le-Tower, Dr Michael Nicholas and the total party included 18 other people from the church, including parents of some of the boys and the vicar, the Revd Peter Townley.

For many of the boys, a highlight of the tour was the guided tour of the Cheddar Caves. They were also able to fit in a short visit to Bath, where they were able to see the fine abbey and the Roman baths.

This was the second tour by the choir. Last year they visited East Germany together with the choir of All Saints, Northampton, and gave concerts in Berlin, Leipzig, Halle and Wittenberg.

Plans are now being made to go to Arras as part of a short French tour next February.
