Film fans will have good reason to sing ‘I do like to be beside the seaside’ this summer when a resort stages a free open-air cinema day on its seafront.

People are being asked to send in the names of seaside-themed family movies they would like to see screened at the Beachside Events Arena in Felixstowe on Saturday, July 29.

The free, one-day event is being supported by Felixstowe Town Council’s Youth Forum, which has provided £2,000 in funding.

Sarah Shinnie, active communities officer at Suffolk Coastal, said: “This free event is part of the many taking advantage of this fantastic space on Felixstowe’s seafront this summer. We hope the day will prove to be fun for all the family and we’re now looking for the public to tell us what seaside themed films they would like to see beside the seaside!”

The films – which will be screened at the newly-created area south of the pier off Sea Road – need to be suitable to be shown to children in the morning, young people in the afternoon and adults in the evening. All films should be PG and suitable for all ages.
